Medium or large mold problems should be handled by an experienced mold remediator like SERVPRO of Manchester/Mansfield.

Now that you have evaluated the mold problem in your commercial building and decided to tackle the job, follow these steps to eradicate the mold.

Dry out any wet materials within 48 hours to prevent mold growth.

Use personal protection equipment (N-95 respirator, gloves and goggles) to fully protect workers. Use containment equipment to protect your building and its occupants.

Use the most appropriate cleanup methods. The Environmental Protection Agency suggests:

• Method 1: Wet vacuum. Steam cleaning may be an alternative for carpets and some upholstered furniture.
• Method 2: Damp-wipe surfaces with plain water or a water-detergent solution (use wood floor cleaner on wood); scrub as needed.
• Method 3: After the material has been thoroughly dried, use a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) vacuum. Dispose of the HEPA vacuum contents in well-sealed plastic bags.
• Method 4: Remove water-damaged materials, seal in plastic bags and dispose. HEPA-vacuum area after it is dried.
